Food Guide to Chicago

I was so excited to visit Chicago for many reasons but my number one reason was - you guessed it - THE FOOD. I have compiled a list of some of my favorite places to eat and drink in Chicago. Some are touristy must-dos and some are hidden gems I stumbled upon. Happy hunting!

Breakfast

Cinnamon Rolls, Ann Sather, Chicago, Illinois

For a Chicago brunch staple, indulge in some sweet cinnamon rolls at Ann Sather. For something a little lighter, check out the farm-to-table Lula Cafe. The menu changes by season so you’ll always have something new to try when you visit! Brunch in Chicago is very popular so expect long wait times wherever you end up!

Lunch

Portillo’s, Chicago, Illinoise

Long before I came to Chicago, I heard that I needed to try Portillo's, a city staple. If you don’t stop in here for a Chicago-style hot dog and a chocolate shake, did you even go to Chicago?! For all of your meaty desires, hit up The Purple Pig. You’re going to want to get there early - they don’t take reservations and two hour wait times are not unusual.

Dinner

Giordano's, Chicago, Illinois

Giordano's, Chicago, Illinois

You already know that Chicago is famous for it’s deep dish pizza and the city has options in spades. Everyone has their favorite, but my heart belongs to Giordano's. If you want to spend big money (and I am talking big money) on something that you’ll never forget, Alinea has got your back. Chef Grant Achatz works tirelessly to make every meal here a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Drinking

LondonHouse Chicago, Chicago, Illinois

LondonHouse Chicago, Chicago, Illinois

LondonHouse Chicago has quite possibly the best view of Chicago. It is located in the London Guarantee Building on the 21st and 22nd floors. Pro-tip: get the Sangria. Be sure to check out Raised on the third floor of the downtown Renaissance Chicago Hotel for a craft cocktail selection like you’ve never seen.

Safe travels,

V.
