Food Guide to Charleston

Charleston is every bit as delicious as it is beautiful. Here are some of my favorite spots to keep you fat and happy whilst sightseeing.

Breakfast

If you want to take your breakfast on the go, grab a coffee and a pastry from a local favorite, Kudu Coffee. Although it is one of the best coffee shops in town, it's also a beer bar if you need an afternoon pick me up.

For a more elaborate breakfast (and a substantial wait in line) try Hominy Grill for their Nasty Biscuit (yes, you read that right) or The Park Cafe to make all of your Instagram dreams come true.

Lunch

I was on the hunt for some good seafood in Charleston and let me tell you, I found it at Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar. I highly recommend the She Crab Soup (it's a local favorite) and getting at least one order of raw oysters. If you aren't an oyster guy or gal, you will be after this.

Other notable spots are 167 Raw, an incredibly popular raw seafood bar and Butcher & Bee which supports local and sustainable farmers.

Dinner

If you like your cocktails with a view, then I highly suggest heading to The Rooftop at The Vendue Hotel. On summer nights, there will likely be a line to get to the roof but the sweeping views of Charleston and their incredible cocktails make it so worth it. Although, I think that this is the perfect spot for a quick happy hour, The Rooftop also offers yummy bites for sharing like the Deviled Crab Fritters and Crab & Artichoke Dip.

For a more low-key meal, try the Texas-style barbecue from Lewis Barbecue or traditional Southern cooking from Poogan's Porch.

Safe travels and happy eating,

V.
