Sedona Vortexes
Sedona has long been said to hold magical energy and you'll know why after just one visit to the place. However, there are several hotspots in Sedona that are considered to be places of swirling epicenters of energy. People often leave vortex sites feeling incredibly positive, inspired and grateful. These hotspots are not marked on any trail but I've provided you with a map below should you wish to seek them out and see for yourself. Even if you don't believe in the metaphysical, these vortexes are located in some of the most breathtakingly beautiful spots and you should definitely check them out.
Chapel of the Holy Cross
The Chapel of the Holy Cross is potentially my favorite vortex because it's where the metaphysical and spiritual collide with Catholicism. The natural light and angular walls of the Chapel are constructed in such a way where it gives the impression that this is where heaven meets earth. Built into the buttes of Sedona, the Chapel provides unearthly views of Sedona as well as several of the other vortex hotspots.
Boynton Canyon
The energy in the Boynton Canyon Vortex is thought to be "balanced" - that is the perfect yin and yang of both masculine and feminine energy. You'll want to take the Boynton Canyon Trail to the Vista Trail and follow it to the end. Look for the many series of stacked rocks (cairns) left behind by others to indicate that you have entered a place of high energy.
Bell Rock
Bell Rock is thought to be the most powerful vortex as you can feel the energy immediately upon getting out of your car in the parking lot. You'll notice twisted trunks of juniper trees as you get closer to Bell Rock, indicating the strong whirlpools of energy in the area. Although there are many trails options, it is recommended that you close your eyes and ask for guidance in choosing your path. I'm serious. You won't be disappointed.
Airport Mesa
The Airport Mesa Vortex is considered to be the most popular due to its proximity to town and the accounts of experiences there. You'll want to follow the steep trail toward the "Overlook" for the best views. Due to its popularity it can often be hard to have a moment alone so I recommend hitting Airport Mesa at sunrise.
Cathedral Rock
Cathedral Rock is considered one of the most scenic and high energy places in Sedona. The highest point of energy here will of course be the most dangerous place to get to, the saddle of Cathedral Rock (in between the spires). However, if you don't feel like climbing 700 feet in elevation over .75 of a mile, take the Templeton Trail to Oak Creek where you will find hundreds of rock cairns.
Schnebly Hill
Schnebly Hill is thought to be a place of cleansing energy due to the fact that Native Americans ancestral ceremonies were once held there. Schnebly Hill Vista is the highest lookout point that people normally visit, it's about 1,500 feet higher than Sedona. If you take Munds Wagon Trail from the main parking lot, you'll come across Cow Pies and further down the trail, Carousel, which are energy hotspots.
Safe travels,
V.
