Most Instagrammable Murals in Austin
Austin has such amazing street art that is constantly popping up all over the city. I’m sharing some tourist favorites, new spots and lesser known gems - by neighborhood, with addresses!
South Austin
1300 South Congress Ave.
I Love You So Much
Quite possibly the most popular mural in Austin, the I Love You So Much mural lives on the side of Jo’s Coffee. Grab a coffee (and a taco) and snap a pic.
1701 South Congress AVe.
Anything Is Possible In ATX
Kendra Scott’s new flagship store on South Congress opened in November of 2018. It’s the perfect place to grab some swanky macarons and head to the side of the store after shopping.
1912 South Congress Ave.
Love From Austin
If you’re heading to Magnolia Cafe on South Congress (which you should be) you can shop at neighboring Prima Dora while you wait for a table. The Love From Austin mural is on the side of Prima Dora.
1720 South 1st St.
Greetings From Austin
The Greetings from Austin mural lives on the side of Roadhouse Relics and was actually painted by the owner, Todd Sanders, in 1998.
East Austin
East 7th & Waller St.
‘Til Death Do Us Part
Though there are supposedly several versions of this around town, the ‘Til Death Do Us Part mural at 7th & Waller St. is the only one that I can find.
2000 East Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
You’re My Butter Half
This incredibly popular mural is a token of unity created by United Way of Greater Austin. The organization supports the local community by leading the fight against poverty and helping families in need.
1816 East 6th St.
Let’s Band Together
Conveniently located on the side of the bar Whisler’s, you can snap a pic here and then head inside for a drink. If you’re feelin’ really frisky you can head upstairs to the mezcalería.
900 East 7th St.
Mi Media Naranja
Located outside of the bar Gabriela’s Downtown, Mi Media Naranja (loosely translated: “my better half”) represents the fun, spunky vibe of the space. Grab your cocktail in a pineapple and pose.
Downtown
2nd & Brazos St.
Tau Ceti
Tau Ceti’s name comes from a star in the constellation Cetus. The impressive spectrum is now Austin’s tallest putblic artwork at 103 feet tall!
6th St. & I-35
Welcome to Historic Sixth Street
The Historic Sixth Street mural is one of the most popular in Austin. However, you’ll probably have the cross the frontage road to get a shot of this mural - use caution.
2100 Guadalupe St.
Hi, How Are You?
Austin’s Hi How Are You? mural has become wildly popular across America. It was established in 1992 by Daniel Johnston and lives on the Drag as a symbol of support for mental health.
92 Rainey St.
I Hate You So Much
This mural is a pun on the famous “I Love You So Much” mural at Jo’s on South Congress. It lives in an outdoor area in one of the cutest bars on Rainey St., Bungalow.
Safe travels and happy hunting,
